Default Had fun at a Car Show this weekend!!!

Hey how's it going everyone!!!!

My family and I attended the Caprock Classic Car Club Car show this past weekend in Slaton Tx. My Brother and I entered our parents 1974 Chevy Vega into the car show. We didn't win any awards but we sure did receive a whole bunch of nice comments and compliments. People were surprised to see a Vega show up at the car show this year. It was the only Vega at the car show. The judges were pretty impressed on how well kept the Vegas is. One of the judges even asked my brother and I where did we find her. They were surprise to know that my parents had bought the car brand new back in 1974 in Lubbock Texas out of a dealership called Modern Chevrolet. But what really impressed the judges and plus all the people who were at the car show, is the fact that this little car has gone through 5 overhauls and has traveled over 1 million miles. It was pretty much the center of attention at the car show. They even invited us back for next year. We're planning on attending in another car show in Levelland Tx. It's about an hour drive from where I live. But that car show doesn't take place until next month. So we've got plenty of time to get ready for that one. Can't wait though.lol It sure is a lot of fun!!! Here are some pics from the car show. Hope you guys like them??? Take care everyone!!!!

Our Mom and Dad standing next to there pride and joy. They really did have an excellent time at the car show. Picture was taken around 7 in the morning. We had to be there real early for sign up.

Love the Vega. But I still like the Monza. I have had 3 of them all with V-8s. Very fast

Hey Diz!!!! How's it going good buddy!!!

The Vega is pretty much obsolete here as well. And if you do see one, it's at a junk yard in a beyond repairable condition. I'm guessing that's why everyone was surprise to see a good running Vega parked at the car show. I know for a fact that a lot of drag racers are gunning for these cars so they can turn them into a serious drag racing machine. There are a few videos on Youtube of Vega's that have been modified for drag racing. Very cool looking racing machines. I might just do that with my mom's Vega.lol But all in all, the Vega was a real eye catcher at the show. By the way Diz, Mom and Dad say "Hi" back. Well take care good buddy!!!

Here's a video of a fully modified 1974 Vega Hatchback doing a burnout. The same car that my mom has.

What's the secret for keeping a car running for a million miles? Your dad probably has some good tips.

You never see Vega's here. They were rusting the day the left the lot, and Midwestern salt ate the rest.

Congrats!

Sounds like a plan to me Diz!!!!LOL Question is though, how are we going to explain to her why her Vega wants to lift the front end every time you hit the throttle.LOL

Hey IAfarmer!!!! How's it going good buddy!!!

I asked my Dad your question. And this is what he had to say:
"Basically, good maintenance is the whole secret. Changing the Crankcase Oil when you're suppose to. Along with changing the Transmission Fluid and Filter also. Valve adjustments when needed. Keeping up with the Ignition and Timing making sure everything is in proper order. Also always change the Oil Filter every time you change the oil. Good Spark Plugs and wires. And if your car has Points, make sure the Points are perfectly gapped and your Distrubitor Cap along with the Rotor are in excellent condition. And one more thing, always use a very good brand of oil. I use Pennzoil. But the choice of brand is totally up to you.

Well there you have it good buddy!!! Hopefully these tips will come in handy for you??? Take care good buddy!!!

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
