Default Pick up some freebies

I saved a wide frame from the scrap yard. It has a good internal brake tranny, good fender pan, and steering linkage. Unfortunately he had already scrapped a perfectly good 1200 hood, grill with WORKING HEADLIGHTS

Now I have a question. Is a quietline wide frame the same as a pre quietline wide frame. In other words, is the only difference the engine cradle in the quietline? I have never pulled the engine out of my 108 to check for myself. Thanks all.

The engine mounting area is very different. The holes for the iso-mounts aren't in the 1x8/9 frame, and there are big slots in the QL frame so you can get to the motor mount bolts. They won't really interchange.

Thanks Matt,
I was afraid of that. Anyone need a nice quietline frame?

If you are keeping the internal brake rear for another project, I suggest you rob the brake pedal, link, and associated arms and return spring off the Quietline frame. You will need these parts if you install the internal brake rear in a frame that originally had external brakes. I found this out the hard way!

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
