I haven't read it, but I have Ken Updike's book on "Original Farmall Cub and Cub Cadet". It's a good book, but has a lot of focus on the Cub/Lo-Boy. A lot of the sections on the Cub Cadets you could tell were copy/paste stats from each model series specs.
I'd really love to see a book that went into some detail about what all was offered besides just the tractors, the attachments, sample brochures, things like that. It would probably never happen do to the shear volume of information and trying to get it all together and cost of print/publishing. What's the First 45 Years book like?

The book "Cub Cadet The first 45 Years" was written by Oscar H. Will III. It's a good reference book. I wouldn't really say that it has a lot of history in it, but if you want to know basic info on any model of tractor, then it's great. I use it alot to look up dates and kind codes. Plus it list all the models of 2000 series cubs which are very confusing. But I have never heard of a update for it coming.

a friend of mine has Ken updike's book and let me borrow it. As soon as it hit my hands, I skimmed it cover to cover ... he said something but i blocked everything out til I hit the back cover. later, he said I should read it later when I get home... Sheezh I was bad. Im worse now, but you add a book, and im outta real life.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
