Default Question on Snow Blade Latch Pins

I've been on the lookout for a blade to add to my 1440. A local Craigslist add turned up a blade that the seller thinks will fit on my 1440. When I compare the latch pins with those I see in the attachment guide though, they're facing different ways.

I've never known the difference. Will pins that face outward like this fit a 1440?

You will need the proper Snow Blade Mount as pictured below.

Right, that's what I see in the manual. So, then what frame type do the pins in the photo fit? The seller said he used it on a 582.

The Snow Blade frame pictured is the IH built IH-549068-R2 Blade Frame for Wide Frame IH built tractors.

I see. Thanks for the education Roland! I was under the impression from Googling around and from looking at the 1994 Attachments Guide that cyclops and wide frames could share the same plow. I didn't realize the IH sub-frame for wide bodies was different. I guess I'll keep looking for a 190-375/376. Thanks!

Just post in the "Wanted Section" of the forum in the category "Trading Post" for what you are looking for. You never know what might turn up!

Check the Service Bulletin in the tech library section. There is one on using older sub frames on cyclops tractors. It may apply to your situation.

I have an older blade like the one in the picture. Someone adpated it to a Cyclops simply by using two pieces of flat stock and two pieces of round rod and fabbing up just like the illustration.

That makes sense Mike. I don't know if I'm up for the extra project right now though. Got a photo of what yours looks like?

No I don't. That illustration should suffice if you decide to make your own brackets.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
