Today Cub Cadet 123 was picking up a mower deck. We were looking at the two '62 Originals I have and noticed the frames were a little different. After measuring the two frames, we found out that one frame is just a little longer and wider than the other. Was wondering why these frames would be any different....

That's correct. One didn't have any creeper gear hole at all, so I assumed it to be a '61 and that frame measured a little over 1/2" longer and around 3/8" wider. Also, the front axles are 1/4" more in diameter than the later 70's models (70, 71, 72, 73, etc...) along with other models 100.....therefore the bushing are 1" i.d. and 1 3/8" o.d., without ball bearings. I assume this last part is due to engineering realizing that the bushings wore excessively and replaced them with ball bearings, adjusting for a slight reduction in the front axle post by 1/4". Does anyone have any history that they could shed on these anamolies on the original? Thanks...

Just remembered...... there was also a difference in holes in the front of the frame, what the mule drive bolts to.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester.
