Hey folks! Schnitzengruben, anyone?
I have a few questions for you Onan masters & experts:  I have a 982 with the Onan B48G.  Current compression reading is 80 psi exactly in each cylinder. It has a fuel delivery issue, so I'm doing a carb rebuild, intake gasket replacement, fuel pump and fuel lines replacement. While I'm at it, I'm going to pop the heads and valve covers to decarbonize and check out the seats, springs, tappets, etc. Do you think it would be worth it to just pull the engine and change the crank bearings & seals, piston rings,  and the con rods (with the upgraded ones) too? I guess an overhaul would be what I'm getting at. I'd rather spend a few-to-several hundred on prevention than $1000-1600 on a repower. Also, for the life of me I can't find the compression spec for the B48G. Is it 75-105 or 100-120? Lastly, and of most curiosity, how many ft-lbs of torque does that engine produce? I found an industrial technical article about keyway stresses that stated a B48G produced 253 ft-lbs to an axle they were testing.  Yikes!? I'd like to have that in my truck!Thanks in advance for your expertise!
