Default Seat switch for diesel

Can someone post a pic of how the safety switch is installed? The parts diagram isn't any use. I was able to locate a switch and want to use it since I'll be letting my son mow. I think any of the diesels (782D, 1572 etc.) would work. It's sad I couldn't get the switch from cub cadet. I chewed them out for letting something safety related go NLA not that they care.

The parts ARE available from Cub Cadet. You will need...
* 735-3006 Boot
* 925-3060 Switch

That part number is for the brake pedal switch. I'm needing the one that goes for the seat which is 725-3093. I found a place to buy one but will have to figure out how to install it.

I was trying to do my best with the information that was presented. The Parts I listed above, ARE seat switches for the 82 Series but it appears, that the 782D (and subsequent models) had a different switch. Not owning a 782D, I forgot the fuel tank is where the battery normal is on a gas tractor. Thus the above seat switch for gas tractors won't work.

Default 882D seat switch

On my 882D the seat switch is a long (8") flexible bar that inserts into the padding of the seat itself. When someone is sitting on the seat their weight causes the bar to flex and a contact is made and the switch closes, so the tractor runs. When the weight is removed the switch opens and the engine stops. You get at the switch by removing the seat entirely and removing the "U" support on the left side. Then you can pull out the old switch and insert the new one. I don't like this design, as any corrosion of the switch disables the tractor but it is what Cub used. It is also expensive, $45 from MTD

My 210 John Deere had that switch in the seat and I had he same moisture/corrosion problem till I removed it.

The wiring on my 1512 seems to have been adjusted a time or two by the previous owner, but I thought the seat safety switch just killed power to the PTO clutch. Is it supposed to cut the fuel pump instead/too?

Default Seat switch

You are correct. I must be getting senile. When the seat switch opens the PTO goes off but the engine keeps running. Sorry.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
