Default Mower Deck - front brackets & wheels
How effective are the optional deck wheels on the front of a 44 and 50 inch deck? I know CCSpecialties has the bracket kits, and that the steel runners get removed in the process, but I haven't heard if folks thought it was worth it. Also, I presume the front wheels would be the same 7" dia as on the rear, and not the plastic balls put on the MTD decks.

I have the wheels on my 44inch deck. My yard has some really uneven spots. The wheels don't leave marks like the skids did on my other deck. I have the round ball looking wheels on the front of mine. I don't remember the size ,but I do think they are smaller then the rears.

They are the smaller 'ball' wheels, and they do help. What also helps is adding a second roller behind the center blade.
