Default Cub Cadet 100 questions..

I'm am going to be purchasing a cub cadet 100, and I have some questions.

It has front hydrolics, so that means I can put a loader on it, right?

It doesn't have a rear pto, but I plan to install one, what parts do I need to buy?

Thanks in advance.

Would like to see a pic of the front hydraulics as Cub Cadet 100's did not come with them. Some have a hydraulic lift for the deck and other attachments. This is mounted on the right side of the tractor with a belt off the rear of the engine (Flywheel side)/ As far as rear PTO this is a hard to find item and is worthless unless you plan to run an elevator. No attachments were made to run off a rear PTO on a CC.

A loader has its own hydraulic pump...nothing to do with the lift system on the tractor.

There is an adapter that reverses the direction of the rear PTO. I think the last one I saw on epay went for something over $350.00

The hydraulic set up itself depends on whether it will power a FEL.

I would like to see some pictures of this 100.

My main reason for wanting the rear pto would be fabricating things to use implements for other garden tractors. The tillers made for cub cadets require a rear pto, correct?

I apologize for the huge blurry pictures, I currently have no way to resize them, but you get the idea.

Stitch,
The hydraulic system on the right side replaces the hand lift system that came from the factory. It will not work on a loader. There is not enough pressure/volume to run a loader. All loaders for Cubs have their own hydraulic system including a pump to operate the loader.

The rear pto on a Cub doesn't have any use. You can make a few attachments to run off the rear pto. Yosemite Sam is correct...you will need an adapter that reverses the direction of the rear PTO. Those aren't cheap to buy.

A tiller runs off the front PTO. The hydraulic lift comes in handy to lift the tiller. You will need a creaper on your manual trans Cub to operate the tiller.

This cub is going for pretty big money on ebay if I remember right. The tillers for these cubs is run off the front PTO like Matt G said by a long belt. The rear PTO doesn't have any attachments

I just won it off of ebay for $1450. It seemed a little high, but I live on a large acreage and I think it'll be perfect, plus it's 40 miles from home. It has the creeper gear. Does it have a front pto already on it then? I didn't know anything but a snowblower would run off of one, so I never thought of that. The tires on it are brand spanking new also, so I figure as long as it runs as well as the seller said it does, it's a fair buy.

I think I saw it at + > 1300.00. If you are bidding that kind of money because it has the rear PTO you are going to hate yourself the morning after.

That's the thing, I bid that much because I really like the tractor. It doesn't have a rear pto, I had planned to install one because I was under the impression that it was necessary to run a tiller. But since you guys filled me in that it's not necessary, that's even better for me. The thing I;m now wondering, is the front pto something that will already be on the tractor, or will it need to be installed?

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
