My first impression of the first picture is a bridle bit. With that being said, the ring in second picture may very very be part of a harness or halter. Or even part of a saddle, like a saddle strap ( there could be at least two rings like that for the strap). If someone left the equipment out in the field, there has to be more metal parts laying around.... got a metal detector?
It may not be part of farming.... could be cavalry?
