welp, its been a week and almost 200 people have read this so far... does nobody care to spend 10 minutes to go measure there hitch to help a fellow cubber out?
i did acquire a narrow bottom bracket finally. but it measures 9.25" wide out to out and 8.75" on the inside which means the home made hitch adapter that R Bedell posted a picture of in the second post will not work with a factory bottom bracket. his picture looks like it would be 8.75" inside to inside and 9.5" out to out.
