Appears to be some sort of torsion spring and I think it is p/n KH-52-089-08. Look that up and see what you think. I could be wrong, but maybe that will give you a starting point.
Any chance you can take another picture of the end that isn't connected to anything? Is that "loose" end bent or does it have a foot on it?
