Finally figured it out. Somehow when I put the belt back on when I pulled the PTO switch, it wedged the belt at one of the idler pulleys. I had turned the belt and it had moved ok when I rolled it onto the PTO clutch.

Readjusted the belt and mower is working great. The PTO clutch had gone out and the new one sure made a difference.

If anyone should be interested, the new clutch we ordered from oxclutch.com and was almost 1/4th the cost of the one from cub cadet.

Wondering what a new clutch from cub cadet looked like, when the too it out of the box it was identical to the ox clutch.
