I had a Tuesday off recently so I took some time to start reassembly on the K161.
I started with getting everything with the valves sorted out, being these are non adjustable valves it takes a bit to get them set properly. After that I started working on reassembling the governor and inserting the cam and getting all of that shimmed up properly. Moving on to the crank I elected to use the 2 NOS crank bearings I had just for good measure seeing that I was using all new parts everywhere else I figured I shouldn't skimp with one detail.
This is where I stop, I realized I have the "large bore" ring set rather than the original "small bore" set that I should have. Now its just waiting on ePay.
I am fortunate enough to have quite a few original service manuals for these tractors and happen to have one specifically for the Original Cub Cadet motor. I have been referencing it quite frequently for specs as I embark on this long awaited project.
