Kind of funny how long this stuff lays in the ground before its found. Pulled up a dead shrub at Dad's house last week and found a horseshoe. Within the last 5 years, I had a horse (mule) shoe lock up the double disc openers on the grain drill. No harm, the U shape had gotten bent closed some and it went right straddle the discs. Knocked it off with a hammer and back in business.

Late 50's or very early 60's saw the last horse/mule in the field here. To this day the harness are still hanging right where they always did in the barn.
