Zero turn mowers have two transmissions, one for the right and one for the left axles. These hydros are of the newer style and do not have external relief valves, just rods and levers to release it internally.

Since the problem is only in the forward direction I would look for something control wise that would be common to both transmissions, starting at the forward motion foot pedal. Likely a broken or out of adjustment linkage connection.
