Those old Kohler engines are junk!!
I mean heck, they usually only last 30-50 years, and that is with regular maint like changing the oil a couple of times in their lifetime and the air filters @ least once in that time frame.
If You spend a few hundred $$ to rebuild one I don't think they will last more than another 30-50 years.
I think you get my drift here.
A properly rebuilt K series, will outlast a modern repower.
given the same maint. or lack of it.
but that is just my opinion, and you know what they say about opinions.
Rebuild what you have, no muss no fuss.
