I'm not familiar with your particular transmission bit from the looks of your picture it was grease filled, not oil. Hard to see everything, but I don't make out any filler plug so that would pretty much mean you have to pack it with grease and close it up. Most of the Peerless or Spicer transmissions I've worked on call for bentonite grease which is clay based grease and is expensive. But most any good quality grease will work, this is not a Maseratti. Some folks recommend using corn head grease which is very sticky, slick, and somewhat pourable. Since the grease tends to pack itself in nooks and crannies, you may want to consider putting grease fittings in the case so you could add grease occasionally to keep everything coated. Or another option is, you could put in drain & fill plugs and use 90# gear oil.
