Wow that turned out nice! I do think it may be to close. The 45 idea sounds like it would help. Also when ever I played with exhaust like that the fitting always end up coming loose at the block. If you could support it off something to help keep it from rotating it might help that. Maybe a piece of flat stock bolted to something and the other end bolted to the U bolt clamp. 
edit: Noticed support piece. That probably work.
