I agree these are tough to remove. The double spline just keeps hanging on. Its a good rugged Cub design but not easy to remove! I used two pry bars and some blaster into the set screw hole too. Once you get it to move a little you can walk it off by gently prying up opp the handle and then rasining the handle as the lever on the other side.
Glad you got it dislodged! I did not consider trying heat.
I have to tighten the set screw on the hydro shifter on the 127. It seems to vibrate loose while mowing.
