I'm glad you posted this Cub 149, because I thought it was wrong when I read it myself. In fact, when I went to buy oil (first time) for my 1650, I purchased the 48 oz (3 pint) bottle, based on what I had read - but it's been a few weeks and I couldn't remember for sure.

I got the info from page 15 of the Kohler owners manual, under "specifications" it has the 321 listed as 4 pints. It's the Cub Cadet owners manual that lists it at 3 pints. It must be that IH used a smaller oil pan than the standard Kohler used for these engines.
