Nope, you can go ahead and change the fluid/ filter, if it requires work to the trunion, it is mounted externally on the hydro pump. It is a lot easier to repair them if you spilt the tractor, if you do this and your tractor has a ported pump (hydrallic lift) you might loose a little bit of fluid from unhooking the lines to the hydrallics, but should be a minimal amount, just re top it off after putting it back together.
