I would advise to look at both floats side by side and simply make the new float look as close to the old one as possible ( that probbably means the 11/32 ) sometimes instructions can have glaring typo's in them like that. if nothing else look at the car rebuild instructions earlier in this thread. On my total mechanical rebuild last week, my dad and I did the carb rebuild in about 15 minutes with old gaskets and two cans of evap carb cleaner (one for him and one for me) I took the bowl and he took the rest. ( I also had the fuel line, gas tank and sediment bowl to rebuilt though) just make sure your new stuff matches the old stuff.
