That's probably because the service cylinder barrels are interchangeable and have valve seats that are pressed in, but according to my KT-17 manual, the intake and exhaust valve seats are cut directly into the casting (except in 'special applications'), making them not interchangeable. It looks like they went to hardened valve seats in all applications with the Magnum series, so those would be interchangeable, but you'd have to remove the old seats and have new ones pressed in if you were not installing used cylinders in the same configuration they were originally installed in.
