Default My first IH / CC: 1976 Quietline 1000

Hey all. I've checked out the pic thread, and you all do have some fine machines!, and I'm honored to finally have an IH to show here. Most of you have seen my new 1000 in my other threads, but I finally got it all cleaned up, and snapped a few pics before I go and get it too dirty again.

I haven't done much to it besides a tune up, oil change, grease job, and a good cleaning & de greasing. The PO seemed to maintain it well, but never really seemed to have cleaned or waxed the paint. I spent alot of time rubbing out & waxing by hand, and most of the scratches and imperfections did buff out. The horizontal surfaces such as the hood, fenders, and seat mount had a tough reddish layer of residue, similar to the pollution that is deposited in our local areas near the steel mills and coke plants. It took a while to get down to shiny paint, and if left unattended, the paint could have soon chalked out. The only things I painted in these pics were the front wheels, and the mower deck.

From what little time I've ran it, it seems to start, run, and mow smoothly and quietly, and has power and torque to spare. The CarryAll frame I got from Merk seems like it's going to be really handy, and the paint seems to be a perfect match. Nice looking welds, and seems to be built better than the commercially available units.

I'm glad winter is over, but dang I wouldn't mind one more blizzard so I could test the snow blade. Oh well, I guess it will be a while before I get a pic with the chains & blade.

Hope to see some of you at my first plow day or tractor show this year.

Josh P
