I think the 10 hp is a larger engine so it will look a little bigger under there most likely. They seem to cut pretty good as I recall having mowed a couple years with a 1200.
The gear drive is dead reliable and stout. Not bad to mow with but if it was my primary mowing machine I would look at the front axle upgrade to decrease the turning radius (I think they call this the "super steer" upgrade). All the cubs have a wide turning radius compared to newer machines. Second gear is ideal fro this.
