K321 Static Timing marks?
I have two IH CC 149's. Both have the 14 hp K321A engine. I did the static timing method on the first tractor, and had no problem finding the "S" and "T" marks on the flywheel. I set the timing as described, and everything works fine.
Today I removed the engine from the second machine for general maintainance and clean up. While cleaning up the flywheel I noticed the timing marks are different on this engine--even thought the serial numbers are close--both manufactured in 1974. This engine has "SP" and "DC" on the flywheel instead of "S" and "T".
I found a post in which someone wrote the "SP" mark was used on K341 engines, but engine shroud fits as it should and the engine has a 14 hp sticker on it. The engine was starting and running okay before removal. I have not attempted to start it, because I plan to replace the points and condensor. The points were pretty worn and not producing the "snappy" spark like my other K321.
Has anyone else seen these marks on their K321 engine?
