The common problem with these tractors is the solenoid engagement power runs through the ignition switch. This overload the internal contacts. My 2084 with a fully charged battery will not crank until I hook a 10-amp charger, then it fires right off. The solution is the relay that everyone recommends. I need to do this, just haven't gotten around to it.
If I were adding an electric fuel pump (be sure it's a low-pressure version) I'd run power through an identical relay. Just buy two kits.
