Default Hello from upstate New York

Hi there I have a 1650 with a model 2 rear rotary tiller
I have two main issues. Firstly just this year the hydraulic lift is not working
I removed the fill/check plug at the rear of the tractor and checked the level and it seemed a little low so I added some hydraulic fluid i got recommended for the machine from tractor supply but it still doesn’t work
I did a little lubricating of the lift lever linkage which my dad and I are not sure is moving through the correct range of motion

Issue two is that after I drove it to the garden while manually holding the tiller up it had a hard time while tilling as I would go for a few yards and it would stall out
After I let it cool down for a few minutes it would run again and stall out the same way
Finally after 25 minutes of this as I was tilling it started knocking and then made a loud bang and I found it had blown the spark plug out of the engine
My dad found a slightly bigger spark plug and when it was cool I was able to drive it back to the shop
Over the past decade or so as my dad has used it once a year to till the garden it has had some issues with overheating and needing to cool down but usually he could do the whole job
I checked the air filter and it seemed a little dirty and I have one on order
I was curious about the crankcase possibly not breathing properly causing excessive compression
I appreciate any information folks have to share thanks
