Today I got my IH Cub Cadet 70 running for the first time in 20 years! I bought it last Fall for $50 after it sat in the previous owner’s shed for 20 years. After installing the new fuel lines today I managed to get it started. Reverse, 1st, and 3rd gear worked, 2nd gear didn’t work. I had to hold up the brake pedal up to drive so it wouldn’t make this odd noise. The brakes worked when applied. The mower deck belt snapped somehow before I even tested the mower deck, probably just because of old age. Here’s a list of all the parts I’ve installed over the last 7 months: spark plug, head gasket, carburetor rebuild, carburetor intake gasket, coil, fuel sediment bowl, fuel lines. I also resurfaced the cylinder head and cleaned the gas tank. Here’s a list of parts that I still need to get: ignition, air cleaner, I also have to figure out the throttle and change the oil.
