Generally speaking.............. The Oil Light is connected to an Oil Pressure Safety Switch. I don't know the specifications on this switch (Cut-in & Cut-out) as far as PSIG tripping points, but with the engine not running (no pressure) the contacts should close (path to ground) and illuminate the Indicator Light on the Panel.

The pressure switch screws into the crankcase somewhere. One could remove that switch, install a "flared" adapter, hook up a hose to a pressure gauge, and get a reading. IIRC.......if there is more than 5 PSIG, the switch should open and the indicator light goes out.

Thus, what is your Engine Oil Pressure ???
