I just clean them and put them back on. If there are no baffles then I put in small gravels--clean, no dirt. Could also use nuts and washers. Shake it around or strap it onto the rear wheel of something else and let it spin for a while (I'm sure there are videos on the net). If you are trying to get out old fuel residue, I suggest something like purple power or simple green mixed real strong, or even dumping in a gallon can of carb cleaner.
