There's a decent chance the bore has gone egg-shaped, have a machine shop take some measurements if you aren't sure how.
One other thing, pull the governor gear and cross-shaft out while you're at it. The cross-shaft has a metal tab that is pop riveted on and they tend to break off at this age. Mine fell apart in my hands when I pulled it out. Looks like the replacements available are now welded.
