I forget sometimes to mention that we are dealing with 40+ year old equipment and something 10 years newer is not considered "modern" by any means in reference to todays equipment.
Prolly a better reply would be including a part number for reference of the upgraded spindle assy.
Those spindles linked, will not work for a lot of reasons mentioned, but also for the reason they have a star pattern for the blade drive unlike the round hole blade required on the deck he has.
I suppose with a lot of modifications anything can be made to work where it was not designed too but I'm sure he just wanted a cheap plug/play assy.
Upgraded used spindles do show up on the 'net but usually not inexpensive.
