Here is a view of the whole shebang. What darkminion referes to as the "puck" is labeled brake pad retainer in this picture. It is like the piston in a car's disc brake. Usually they get corroded/rusted in their little cylinder that is in the "GRD" cover.
The puck is near impossible to get out unless you take the "grd" cover off and push it out from the inside. I have never seen niether the inner or outer lbrake pads that were worn out beyond use.

Be sure that when you drive the "pivot pin" out, that you have completely removed the adjusting bolt because it goes thru a groove in the pivot pin.. That is what holds the pivot pin in.
