update on 129
Well after the summer months went by and I got caught up with everything else I got around to disassembling the locked up K301 ! Looks like someone had a not too successful rebuilt in the not to distant past. Gaskets didn't look to used, balance gears were previously removed, rod bolts were slightly more than finger tight, bearing material was fused to the crank ( will need turned .010 ) as after cleaning already mic'd .0025/.003 under max wear allowed. ( perhaps this excess clearance was a contributing cause of the failure) ? dipper was broke off rod, block was bored .010 over and head gasket looked blown with head bolts kinda loose, ( likely didn't retorque ) this is the one they said it just seemed like it ran out of gas when mowing ! Likely with a bang ! couple pics or it didn't happen ! Engine stand bolts to the holes used for gen mtg bracket, still hanging on engine lift during pic. PS I know using the bar to drive off the PTO is living dangerously ,but I couldn't find any hardwood !
