Most of the time new brgs, brushes and a good cleaning go a long way in making the starter work better. Clean up the surface where the brushes ride with some scotch brite or fine emery cloth don't remove too much material and be sure to clean the grooves out ! I generally use a hacksaw blade to scrape the grooves free of old brush material. Again don't over do it on the grooves ,when there clean they are only slightly lower than the surface the brushes ride on maybe like a 32nd deep. there's a seller on ebay goes by (s-and-d-repair) out of ohio that sells rebuild kits, brg type or sleeve type depending on what you have for about 13.00 bucks as well as some of the vendors on this site likely have also . good luck ! The other possibility of a slow cranking engine could be the ACR not working right !
