You can run 6-12's if you want. I do it on my tractors. Just because it didn't come offered with them does not mean they don't fit and work well. Not a damn thing wrong with it. I prefer 6-12's for plowing because they fit in the dead furrow best. If you are going to run them, I suggest AG's, but the style you have on it now work well too. I have plowed with both the "knobby" style turf's and the AG's.
FWIW, the 6-12's do not make good tires for snow work. The larger tires weighted with chains do better. You say you need room to maneuver.... even the 12" wide tires don't stick out any farther than the front blade, or the mower deck. Plus, if you look, I think you will find with the 6-12's the front tires stick out farther..... I can't imagine you need that you are gaining much maneuvering room.
