If the valves are down, all of the fluid has probably all drained out of the pump and passages at this point.
I would stop worrying about the hydro, it sounds fine to me. Besides that, if by some chance it is bad, you can't find out for sure until you get the engine back in. In the mean time concentrate on the task at hand and fall off the next bridge when you get to it.
