OK update time again. I retrieved he 12 HP motor which again we don't know the total history about and swapped parts from the 14 HP onto this motor. oil is full and I tried to get it running to see it's condition before spending too much money. After I sat it in the frame,I swapped carbs and wired it up. I hooked up the fuel tank and gave it a go. It had all kinds of spark but the gas was spewing out the carb. In no way did it fire. After reading Matt G's timing and going back out, still no go. I was stumped. So,tonight,I came home and removed the carb again.I was going to swap the 12 carb on and for some reason,I decided to hit the key. Then immediately seen my trouble. The intake valve was stuck open. Took the head off and sure enough,it was up. I seen a piece of carbon stuck on the valve face. I rotated the flywheel and managed to get the piece out as well as the other carbon off the piston and valves. I then spun it over and the valves operate great now. Looked in the cylinder and it looked nice with no scoring. I reinstalled the head and assembled it. First turn and it started right up. It is definitely a smoker now.I plan to change oil and maybe add a little marvel oil in it to see if it clears up. It has tons of power and runs really smooth.Just need to see if the smokingwould clear. This motor was rolled around and the muffler might have some oil in it as well. Time will tell I guess..
