I'm doing this because of past posts & the comments made about newly painted gas tanks & the problems of having gas dripped & spilled on fresh paint.

Nik , there is a whole thread devoted to rattle can spray paint . In the restoration tips section . I could not find Epoxy paint in Yeller , but I would bet the Rustoleum almond epoxy would hold up to gas and oil spills . I would use the Yellow spray can over a good auto primer . Your tank certainly could use some paint , then report back to us how it holds up.
