Definitely a plus , helps the deck to float better when it needs to and definitely saves saves your arm when doing work with a blade, I would not want to be without it !! Set the tension properly and it should not be an issue ! I found if scraping ice or dirt with a blade gotta push down on the handle with or without the helper .
