On the Gator vs conventional:
It is my findings that
the gators will cut the grass up into smaller pieces making it disappear faster, and work great mulching/making leaves disappear in the fall.
The negatives are the "fingers" don't stay sharp very long and wear fast.
Also they don't have as much "suction" to pull the grass up straight if it is heavy/wet, and they don't throw the grass as far out of the deck as conventional blades do.
I use them selectively as needed, as they change in just a few minutes with an impact wrench.
Now this is based on 50 "A" & 50 C" decks.
I swear by them in the fall mulching leaves.
