Need help with 1250.
I bought a non running 1250. Pretty decent shape. Guy said he lost spark in it. The wiring was a bit of a mess. (Replaced coil and switch) Anyhow, I found a wiring diagram and think i have the wiring correct according to it. First question. On the PTO switch, the harness that fits on the 3 prongs on the right side was melted and couldn't be reused. According to the diagram one of the posts stays blank. Is this correct? Or is it jumpered together in that harness? I'm asking because i was able to get the tractor started with the one post unused. And it ran good for a few minutes. But the PTO wouldn't engage. I soon saw small metal looking shavings coming out from around the front PTO clutch area. Then after about another minute the engine shut down and now won't crank over. It's like the pto is stuck or something is locked up. I was able to loosen the adjustment bolts and could turn the pto belt pulley by hand. Not sure how these work. Never had one before. Is there something I'm missing? Could wiring be the issue? Or bad pto clutch? Looking for any suggestions. The tractor did run and move really well before it quit. Thanks guys. No idea where to start. Went from a high of getting it to run to a low of watching it quit on me all in a few minutes. Ha.
