I wish I understood that too. Deal with it all the time.
On that note, I know for a fact that part stores like O'Reilly's change part number to keep from having to warranty parts. If the part numbers change and you don't have a receipt, they don't have to warranty it. After all, your account shows you never purchased that part number.
