Managed only a couple hours of work on this project today. (Set the base cabinets for the wet bar in the family room this morning so they can come template for the granite.)
Back in the shop after lunch for some mundane stuff like any other Cub at this stage.
I rebuilt the carburetor, installed the drive shaft with a new cooling fan. (The drive pin was quite tight in the drive shaft and required heat and a BFH to remove.) Based on the wear of the pin, this cub has not had all that much use. The drive shaft appears original, I don't think the drive pin has ever been out or replaced.
Had to drill and tap the air cleaner screw holes as the 10-32 threads were stripped out. Went to 12-24 screws.
Spent an hour mounting the engine, carb, coil, condenser, choke and throttle cables and setting the governor. Pretty much together.
Painted the starter.
Next step will be re-installing the fuel system--tank and supply line--and mounting the starter and muffler. I will need to rig up a battery so I can start and run this thing.
