To Rebuild or Not to Rebuild?
I'm brand new to this site and not sure how to navigate as of yet. However, my issue involves a cub 149 14hp Kohler. It was my second summer using my "new to me" cub and I committed the unpardonable sin in not checking my oil, as I thought my motor was not using. I had borrowed some gas to finish up a yard and cut my own grass late in the evening a day or two later. I saw some smoke but immediately thought of the borrowed gas and thought there was oil in the gas. Well...the rest is history and I'm seeking the right solution from all you veteran cubbers as I try to consider whether to rebuild or find a good running motor somewhere else. Money IS an issue for me at this time. What are my options? Where is the right motor? Or who can I call to rebuild without breaking the bank? The original purchase price including a PECO vac system was $710.00, which I thought was a steal, unless you have to buy it twice... The tractor does have some sentimental value so I intend to keep the existing body and vac system. You guys are seasoned pros, so I will put alot of stock in what you say.
The time for "being sick about it" and "regret" are over. It's time to go forward and I would appreciate anyone's time and expertise.
Many Thanks,
Dan
