I hope your son's stick with the hobby... I started with my Dad some 40 years ago.... kinda lost interest in my later teenage years.. but the bug didn't stay away..

My now 16 year old step son lost the bug a few years ago... I hope to get him back into cubs one day!

You are correct... nothing like turning up some dirt!![/QUOTE]

I’m not sure how long they will be interested in this hobby but I do know that we can make some really cool “tangible” memories by restoring a tractor together and using that tractor in their childhood and formative years. Someday, as adults, I hope they can look at their tractor that we used and restored together and those memories will come flooding back. I understand, having been a youth pastor for about 7 years and having worked with youth for over two decades, that when they get into their late teens, lots of things in life distract them. I’m a patient person, and I look forward to navigating those things and not forcing them in the hobby but rather continuing in it myself. Maybe in that, they will want to do so themselves. If not, I love them the same, and we still have the memories from their childhood.

If you want your step son to get into it, tell him you’ll get him a Cub! Show him the different models and let him pick one. Then set a price and whether you want a fixer upper or a runner or a finished machine. Then the hunt begins. That can be fun. If a person is patient and has the money set aside, you can find almost any cub model over time. At least in the midwest anyway! Good luck...
