Sounds like you got the wrong mounts. What you probably have are the ones that are actually for automobile sway bars. Some people will use 4 good original mounts on the bottom and 4 of the sway bar style on the top without the inserts in the top ones. The set I got that actually worked right were black and were designed to use the original inserts. If you want the insert to work on your style, you will have to run a drill bit thru the rubber to open them up enough to let the metal inserts work. The auto style rubber mounts are too soft in my opinion to use as a complete set for both upper and lower.
