I had it right the first time. 48" decks, the front casters are angled outboard, both sides. The 54's are straight ahead both sides. The picture above on the 54" deck is incorrect.
PS. Probably what's happened is someone knocked the caster mount off the deck and they either welded it back on wrong or used the 48" mounting bracket. I'd suggest keeping them as far inboard as you can.
